Debegeni Falls

Pietersburg is the capital city of the north and is the commercial and business center of the Northern Province.

The Voortrekkers founded the town of Pietersburg in 1884. Pietersburg has enjoyed a long history of prosperity and has grown rapidly with the rich agricultural district.

The city of Pietersburg is near the countries of Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Swaziland, making it a strategically located, fully equipped destination, and it is within convenient distance from the Krugar National Park and Magoesbaskloof.

The Ebenezer Dam has facilities for boating and angling and the Debegeni Falls offers tranquil picnic spots in a forest setting.

Debegeni Falls is a spectacular waterfalls dropping down in a series of natural pools. Attractive picnic and braai sites, under the canopy of the shady forest, make this an ideal place to spend time with the family. the sliding down the wet rocks is extremely dangerous and people are advised to stay within the demarcated area.

The largest area of indigenous forest in the Northern Province with over 40 species of indigenous trees, lies in the viscinity of the Debegeni Falls. The only recorded sightings of the Blackfronted Bush Shrike in South Africa have been made in the Woodbush Forest.

the Wolkberg Wilderness Area has the Iron Crown Mountain) and the Serala peak. Dense indigenous forests, grasslands, the Thabina Falls and the Debegeni Falls near it, offer wonderful opportunities for nature lovers

The Ebenezer Dam, reached along Georges Valley is a popular fishing spot. The magnificent setting of the dam against the imposing Iron Crown Mountain makes it ideal for leisurely strolls.

Ebenezer Dam is beautifully situated beneath the Wolkberg Mountains, this large bilharzias free dam is the perfect place for scenic drives, gentle strolls, picnics, fishing and boating. The Letaba River starts its journey to the sea below the dam wall. Boating and sailing enthusiasts are all welcome here.

The village has a full annual events including cycle races, trout fishing, canoe races and eco challenges. The best known event is the Spring Cherry and Azalea Blossom Fair, but others like the Ebenezer Mile Fun Swim on the Debegeni Falls is also quiet nice.
