Paarl Wine Route Tour

The first European settlers arrived at the Cape of Good Hope in 1652, planting the seeds that changed the Cape's reputation as a wine growing paradise.

The Paarl Wine Route was set up in 1984 by local producers to help promote their wines and attract tourists into the area. The program has been a great success and some of the estates have opened their own restaurants.

The delicate fruits are hard-pressed by winemakers and the wine routes leads to the finest wines in the world.

The Red Route is named because of the large amount and quality of red wines along its relaxing stroll. Wine producers' known as the Paarl Vintners or Wine Merchants formed it. The winemakers meticulously plotted a wine route for an estimated 24 participants, all found within the Paarl Valley.

The Red Route has a collection of the most renowned wine producers in the world. The Red Route's Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are undoubtedly the best in the world.

Laborie is the easiest cellar to visit as it is close to the center of town. The vineyard is impressive. The original Cape Dutch farmhouse, surrounded by rose bushes, has been turned into a restaurant serving a la carte menu. There is a lovely terrace, and rolling lawns overlooking the vineyards.

The first wine was made on Fairview in 1699 and a long tradition has long since developed. This is a popular estate with a remarkable attraction in the form of a goat tower, a spiral structure home to two pairs of goats. In addition to a variety of very good wines

The Nederburg Auction The Auction is Paarl's largest wine festival. Held at the end of every summer, the auction represents what fine wine is all about. event lies in the tasting of 147 award winning wines. The auction is a showcase for African wines to the international trade.

Paarl offers some of the best restaurants in the Cape, serving a variety of foods that mix well with a bottle wine.

Paarl is rich in history with architectural wonders.

olive tasting is becoming a major attraction on some of the estates, many of whom now grow Olive Trees for the export of olive oil.
