A visit to South Africa is never complete if you do not visit the Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Mosi-oa-tunya (the smoke that thunders) or otherwise known as Victoria Falls is on the doorstep of Botswana - Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta and on the borders of Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Situated between the borders of Zimbabwe and Zambia, the mighty Zambezi River steadily approaches Victoria Falls, and then topples out of control over a sheer 330-foot (100 meters) drop. This mile-wide (1,609 meters) curtain of water really is as spectacular as its reputation and can be viewed from various angles at numerous viewpoints. Flight of Angels as Livingston rightly mentioned in his diary seeing the falls from the air, these beautiful scenes have been gazed upon by the angels in flight.
Chobe National Park, a 90minute drive or a 30minute flight is the closest to Victoria Falls is an ideal safari for people who are on a short visit. The other regions accessible from Victoria Falls or Living-stone are the Lower Zambezi Valley & South Luangwa in Zambia and the Hwange, Mana Pools and Matusadona wildlife regions in Zimbabwe.
Victoria Falls is linked by regular flights from Johannesburg.
