Day 1: Johannesburg
Arrive Johannesburg after your customs and immigration formalities proceed to your hotel. Relax for the day. Overnight at the hotel.
Days 2: Pilanesberg National Park
We leave very early morning from Johannesburg to Pretoria as you travel west to the Pilanesberg National Park, covering an area of 55 000 hectares, a home to the big five, 50 other species of large mammals, and 354 bird species. The entire park is situated in the remains of a 1200 million year old volcanic crater. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Waterberg Mountains
Travel to the unexplored Waterberg mountains for a visit to Vista Game Reserve an exclusive private game reserve. Travel by 4x4 open jeeps. Overnight at Private Reservelodges.
Day 4: Central Kruger National Park
Breakfast and leave Vista's and travel further north through the provincial capital Polokwane and on to the scenic Magoebaskloof. Visit a tea plantation high up in the mountains where a light local lunch can be enjoyed while admiring the breathtaking views. In the afternoon descend the escarpment and travel through the warm "lowveld" before entering the world famousKruger National Park. Overnightatthehotel.
Day 5: Central Kruger National Park
The day begins with an early morning "open vehicle" game drive, looking for Africa's "Big Five" - Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion and Leopard, followed by a bush breakfast at a secluded picnic spot. (Weather permitting) In the afternoon, when it is cooler and the animals start moving around in preparation for the night, enjoy another game drive. Overnight at the camp.
Days 6 & 7: Southern Kruger National Park
Travel south inside the park, with two full days in the company of Africa's magnificent wildlife, and the "hunt" for the elusive "Big Five". Game drives are undertaken under the guidance of expert tour guide, and get togethers enjoyed in the camp restaurant. A highlight is a night safari in an open game-viewing vehicle in search of the nocturnal inhabitants of the African bush.
Days 8 & 9: Ithala Game Reserve
Depart from Kruger Park at the southern border and cross intoswaziland, one of the last, and also smallest remaining monarchies in the world. We drive right through this tiny country and exit at the south to travel to Ithala Game Reserve, flagship of the KwaZulu-Natal Parks. Ithala is especially well known for it's scenic beauty, but with 4 of the "Big Five" species, also offers excellent game viewing. We have two days to explore the hills and valleys of this beautiful reserve, while meals can be enjoyed at the excellent camp restaurant.
Days 10 & 11: Mkuze Game Reserve
We travel further into the heart of Zululand to theMkuze Game Reserve. A special highlight at Mkuze is observing wildlife at close quarters from a number of hides strategically placed next to waterholes. Mkuze is also world famous for it's astounding variety of bird species - more than 400 having been recorded. There is no restaurant in the camp, but a well-stocked shop supplies the basic necessities, while freshly prepared light meals can be obtained from the Rhino-Dine-O take-away kiosk. Dinners will be in the form of a typical South African "braai" (barbecue) prepared over an open fire by your tour guide.
Days 12 & 13: Hluhluwe / Imfolozi Game Reserve
Today travel further south to the Hluhluwe Game reserve famous for saving the white rhino from the brink of extinction. Included is a full day open vehicle game drive to explore this magnificent "Big Five" reserve. Meals can be enjoyed at the beautifully situated camp restaurant.
Day 14: Johannesburg/Pretoria
After a last drive through the park we travel back to Johannesburg/Pretoria for a late afternoon drop-off at the hotel or the Johannesburg International Airport, for your return flight.
