The most popular tourist province also known as "Mother City" is one of the world's top destinations to visit. The Western Cape Province's appeal lies much on its topography, which creates a stunning diversity of regions within the Western Cape each with its own special character.

The Cape metropole covers Cape Town, Table Bay, Clifton, Camps Bay, Muizenberg, Fish Hoek and False Bay.

The Cape wine lands. The worlds longest wine route famous for its excellent wines and natural beauty of its lush valleys, that are sparkling green in summer and cloaked in warm rusty colors in autumn. The oldest vine yards date back as long as 1660s..The entire stretch of wine country is picture perfect dotted with quaint historic towns, finest wines and abundance of country food.

The Breede river Valley is a region of rivers, fruit orchards and vine yards.

The West Coast is dotted with charming whitewashed villages.

The Cape Peninsula comprises the spectacular Table Mountains which continues inland with the Hottentots Holland and Boland ranges sheltering a magnificent market gardening, viticulture agri industry. This peninsula has beautiful breath taking views such as Chapman's Peak Drive, Hout Bay, The Constantia winelands, Fish Hoek, Simonstown and Kalk bay.

George, the capital of Garden Route, is an ideal place for Golfers. Knysna and Plattern berg Bay are the most popular destinations on this scenic route. Karoo town of Oudtshoorn is famous for its ostriches and the enchanting Cango Caves.

The Cape is the perfect place for wide range of outdoor activities like canyoning, rock climbing, mountaineering, hiking, and water sports.

Tourist Attractions in Western Cape Province

Cape Town: Nestled in the shadows of Table Mountain, this incredible city has many things to do and go. Victoria &Alfred (V&A) Water front is one of the main attractions in Cape Town offering world class shopping experience an interesting variety of restaurants, cafes, bars and exciting nightspots. V&A also boasts of its best hotels on the marina and the Two Oceans Aquarium.

Table Mountain: One of the few mountains within the close proximity to the city and rises to 1073m above sea level and can be seen from all over the city. One can travel by a cable car which takes just three minutes to reach to the top You can find restraunts, cafes and souvenir shops. There are several routes for adventure hiking.

Cape Floral Kingdom: The large part of the Cape region is taken up by Fynbos the richest biome floral kingdom.An area of 90,000km or 35000 it has 9000 plant species out of which 6000 are endemic.

The Cape Winelands: Bulk of South Africa's wine comes from areas Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek.The wine route is complemented by host of restaurants, coffee shops and attractive guest houses.The scenery is spectacular with dramatic green mountains a back drop to the wine estates which also boast the best Cape Dutch and Georgian architecture in the country.

Robben Island: This is where Nelson Mandela and other African National Congress members such as Walter Sisulu were detained during the apartheid struggle. The island is 13 km off the shore of Green Point. A home to an abundance of wildlife including over 100 bird species. On 01 December 1990, UNESCO declared the island a World Heritage Site.

Cape point: The southern tip of Cape Peninsula where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet.

Needle sharp and steep sided Cape point lords it over a wild stormy sea. On bright summer days it is sunny and pleasant with pretty fragrant flowers all around. The point is at the far end of the Cape Peninsula National Park. Surface travel by car or bus and for the more adventurous bicycle tour ending in a walk to the viewpoint.

Hermanus: An hours drive from Cape Town it is famous for its Southern Right Whales which can be sited from June to end of October. These huge mammals are clearly visible as they frolic in the bay. The diving is good there is small dedicated sea kayaking operation and a local golf course,that is not a link course is particularly scenic with lovely views of the sea.

The Walkers Bay wine region has most of the southerly vineyards in the world and a tasting trip is well worthwhile.

The Garden Route: The stretch of coast between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth is one of the most popular destinations in South Africa. Because of its wonderful vegetation, it has earned the name of Garden Route. Tangled forests extend to the purple mountains, dramatic cliffs fall straight to the sea, long stretches of sandy beaches, large areas of fynbos are filled with aromatic flowering plants. Dolphins and whales are a common site in sheltered bays and the extensive wet lands are a home to large variety of birds and aquatic animals. There are numerous fine golf courses in the area and a wide range of adventure activities like Kayaking, surfing, horse riding gliding paragliding diving and bungee jumping.

Main towns in Western Cape Province are George, Knysna, Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn, Plettenberg Bay, Wilderness and Albertina.
